Worrell, Davontay vs City of New York, et al.
Case # 153930/2019,
Supreme Court - New York, June 25, 2019
Complaint
Description: On January 17, 2018, Devontay Worrell was lawfully present near 1111 Third Avenue, New York, when he was unlawfully stopped, questioned, and frisked by NYPD officers, including Desmond Middleton and Timothy Burke. The officers lacked probable cause for their actions and did not find any weapons or illegal substances on him. Despite this, Worrell was falsely arrested and taken to the 19th Precinct, where he was held for approximately 22 hours before the District Attorney declined to prosecute him. The complaint alleges multiple violations of Worrell's rights, including false arrest, unlawful search, and excessive force, resulting in emotional and psychological distress.
