Description: On or about November 7, 2017, in front of her place of employment at 720 Fifth Avenue, plaintiff Famous sought the assistance of defendant NYPD Sergeant James Joyce in apprehending individuals whole had stolen from her retail establishment. After a short pursuit, defendant Joyce unlawfully detained, arrested and confined plaintiff without legal cause or probable cause. As a result of her negligently false incarceration, plaintiff Famous sustained severe and serious personal injuries and incurred medical and out-of-pocket expenses. Moreover, as a rsuslt of the psychological trauma experienced by plaintiff Famous, her husband, plaintiff McGill, suffered a loss of consortium.
