Description: On April 10, 2019, plaintiff, who is an attorney, went to the precinct to inquire why his client was being arrested. Defendant PO Dumelle then requested and photocopied plaintiff's ID. When plaintiff invoked his client's right to remain silent and again asked why his client was being arrested, defendant POs Dumelle and Dimauro arrested plaintiff without probable cause. Plaintiff was held in custody for 20 hours before his release. Defendant POs then falsely charged plaintiff with crimes he did not commit. All charges were later dismissed and sealed.

Description: On May 18, 2016, around 12:00 a.m., Jameson Libhart was maced by several New York Police Department officers while he was walking into his apartment building in New York County. The officers, Michael Delwy, Mark Dumelle, and two additional officers, referred to as John Doe New York Police Officer Number One and Two, detained Libhart because they believed he had discarded a marijuana cigarette. None of the officers were in uniform and did not identify themselves before grabbing Libhart and macing him. The plaintiff was repeatedly punched by Officer Delwy and Officer Dumelle while laying handcuffed on the ground. During this time, none of the officers intervened in the assault.
