Description: On January 18, 2021, while lawfully attending a Martin Luther King march at City Hall Park, located at Broadway and Chambers Street in New York, NY, the plaintiff was unlawfully approached, seized, battered, assaulted, arrested, and detained by defendants William Hughes, Maria Landy, and John Does, in an excessive manner without legal justification and solely because of her race and national origin. Police officers forced the plaintiff and her friend against a bench, ordering the crowd to disperse, which they could not do because they were being held by the officers.
