Description: On September 14, 2018, Officer Ruiz and another officer went to Plaintiff's home in the belief that he had violated an order of protection. While there, the officers were informed the criminal case had been dismissed and the order vacated. Plaintiff then called the 62nd precinct to inform the officers that the order was vacated and he was allowed to return home. Plaintiff then visited the precinct at 10:45 pm, where Officer Ruiz refused to verify the information and instead placed the Plaintiff in handcuffs, confiscated his medication and placed him in a holding cell for 20 hours. Plaintiff was then released without charges.
