Further details on conclusions.
On July 4, 2004 [redacted] was on [redacted] in Brooklyn celebrating the 4th of July with her family and friends. A firework had just finished going off in the street and [redacted] went into the street to kick it out of the way. PO Scott Nuzzi and Sgt. Norman Grandstaff drove up. PO Nuzzi asked [redacted] if she was "fucking stupid," and he told her to get out of the "fucking street." (Allegation A) [redacted] told PO Nuzzi that he did not have to speak to her like that. She then followed his order to get out of the street. [redacted] walked away from them with her back towards the officers. PO Nuzzi and Sgt. Grandstaff exited their car after her. However, neither officer asked her to stop. Sgt. Grandstaff grabbed [redacted] left arm and twisted it. (Allegation B) PO Nuzzi then grabbed [redacted] hair and pushed her to the ground (allegation C). [redacted] stated that in the midst of this PO Nuzzi put her in a headlock, which restricted her breathing (allegation D). Once on the ground PO Nuzzi put handcuffs on [redacted]. [redacted] did not resist the officers at all during this incident. On the way to the 70th Precinct PO Nuzzi told [redacted] that she would receive a summons at worst. However, when [redacted] was searched at the Precinct, marijuana was recovered. PO Nuzzi then decided to arrest [redacted]. He arrested her for [redacted]. Read report for details.
