On January 23, 2009, at approximately 12:40AM, three uniformed officers arriving in a marked police van approached [redacted] who just exited his apartment building located at [redacted] in the Bronx. These officers have been identified via the investigation as Lt. Johnny Orellana, PO Steven Ramunno and PO Lauren Cinnante. [redacted] s friend, [redacted] was outside at the time and was talking to [redacted] RO Ramunno questioned [redacted] about whether he lived in the building and then requested identification. [redacted] Then, PO Ramunno allegedly searched [redacted] (Allegation B). PO Ramunno obtained [redacted] s identification and proceeded to conduct a warrant check. The results of the check were positive and the officers attempted to place [redacted] under arrest. [redacted] alleged that PO Ramunno punched him in his left thigh and in the rib (Allegation C). Lt. Orellana then allegedly punched [redacted] in his leg and twice in the ribs (Allegation D). Several of [redacted] family members and friends came outside and observed the officers' interaction with [redacted] alleged that PO Ramunno struck him in the ribs after he was in handcuffs and restrained (Allegation E). [redacted] a friend of [redacted] alleged that PO Cinnante used profanity when speaking to him outside (Allegation F). When [redacted] was placed into the rear of the patrol van, he alleged that PO Cinnante used profanity against him. [redacted] s friends and family came to the 44th Precinct to inquire about his arrest. [redacted] s mother, [redacted] alleged that she spoke to a sergeant at the desk.
