On May 29, 2020, at approximately 7:26 p.m., at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, [redacted] was attending a Black Lives Matter Protest. [redacted] took out her cell phone and began filming an officer who was arresting an unidentified female. Police Officer Daniel Mendez of the 107th Precinct allegedly ran toward [redacted] and used his asp to push her (Allegation A: Force; [redacted] 1). PO Mendez used his baton to hit [redacted] once on the left side of her body (Allegation B: Abuse of Authority; [redacted]). In doing so, PO Mendez allegedly interfered with [redacted] recording the arrest on her cell phone (Allegation C: Abuse of Authority; [redacted]) and PO Mendez then proceeded to walk away from each other.
