On January 14, 2023, at approximately 5:30 p.m., [redacted] entered the Union Square subway station in Manhattan by walking through an open emergency exit gate that several other people had already walked through. Present in the vicinity of the entrance were Police Officer Ahteramul Haque, Police Officer Arjun Acharjee, Police Officer Joseph Wetzel, and Police Officer Mohammad Hossain, all of Transit District 4.
