Description: On May 20, 2020, Rufino Rodriguez was walking near Hegeman Avenue and Thatford Avenue in Brooklyn when he was approached by several police officers. These officers, not in uniform and without a marked vehicle, stopped him without any legal justification. As they aggressively pursued him, they drew their firearms, prompting Rodriguez to stop running. He was forcibly restrained, with his arms pulled behind his back and tightly handcuffed, leading to significant physical pain and emotional distress. Following this incident, Rodriguez was wrongfully detained for around 135 days before all charges against him were dismissed on October 1, 2020.

Thereafter, Plaintiffs remained incarcerated for over 24 hours and was required to make numerous court appearances over an extended period of time until all charges against them were terminated favorably on 3/20/19.
