Complaint
Description: On April 25, 2019, NYPD defendant officer Matthew Coates, along with two unnamed NYPD officers, approached plaintiff on the street and unlawfully stopped, searched, battered, handcuffed and detained plaintiff in an excessive manner. Defendant was stopped searched and seized based solely on his age and/or race. Plaintiff suffered severe and permanent physical injuries as a result of this incident. Plaintiff was then taken into custody, processed, strip searched illegally, and remained incarcerated for over 24 hours. Defendant officers then worked to maliciously prosecute plaintiff.
