Complaint
Description: On July 2, 2016, Plaintiff Chevar Hall was in the backseat of a car when the car was pulled over by NYPD Officer Henry Lopez and Sergeant Gregory Fontaine without reasonable suspicion or probable cause. Plaintiff Hall was subjected to a search and then falsely arrested and handcuffed. After transportation to the precinct, he was photographed, fingerprinted, and put into a cell for holding. With no evidence or suspicion, the police officers falsely accused Plaintiff Hall of unlawful possession of a skimmer device in the second degree. He was in holding for 28 hours. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute on July 3rd. This incident caused Plaintiff Hall to lose his job in construction.
