Description: On February 11, 2018, Sire Gaye was unlawfully stopped and searched by at least one NYPD officers while driving at the corner of Bowery and Canal Street in Manhattan, New York. The police searched and arrested Mr. Gaye believing that he possessed invalid license plates, fake credit cards, and marijuana. However, the officers found valid license plates and no evidence of fake credit cards or evidence of marijuana upon their search. The officers arrested Mr. Gaye without probable cause and commenced a criminal proceeding that violated his constitutional and tort rights.

Description: On April 10, 2019, plaintiff, who is an attorney, went to the precinct to inquire why his client was being arrested. Defendant PO Dumelle then requested and photocopied plaintiff's ID. When plaintiff invoked his client's right to remain silent and again asked why his client was being arrested, defendant POs Dumelle and Dimauro arrested plaintiff without probable cause. Plaintiff was held in custody for 20 hours before his release. Defendant POs then falsely charged plaintiff with crimes he did not commit. All charges were later dismissed and sealed.

Description: On December 30, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m. Plaintiff and his girlfriend had left a bar when POs Joseph Dimauro and John Doe stopped, handcuffed, and arrested them. At the time of the arrest Plaintiff's girlfriend was holding a coat that contained a purse, both of which belonged to someone else. Plaintiff's girlfriend had removed the coat with the purse from the bar, and at no point did Plaintiff ever take, possess, or exercise control over either the coat or the purse. POs Joseph Dimauro and John Doe reviewed video evidence of only Plaintiff's girlfriend taking the items. Nevertheless Plaintiff was arrested and transported to the 7th Precinct then Central Booking.
