Description: On January 27, 2023, plaintiffs Shaqulle Abrom and Kenneth Austin were at the Exotic Smoke Shop in Brooklyn when NYPD Officers Lieutenant Alexandru Anghel, Police Officer Christopher Francis, and Police Officer Delinda Giraldo entered, demanded their IDs, and accused them of gambling. Despite providing their IDs and no evidence of gambling, the officers arrested them. Abrom was detained overnight and released the next day with all charges dismissed. Austin received a Desk Appearance Ticket and also had all charges dismissed. Officer Francis made false statements in the complaints, and other officers did not witness any gambling.
