Escobar, Elizabeth vs City of New York, et al.
Case # 155865/2016, Supreme Court - New York, July 21, 2016, ended April 10, 2018
$50,000 Settlement
Complaint
Description: On April 16, 2015, Elizabeth Escobar was unlawfully arrested by NYPD officers at the 23rd Precinct without warrant or probable cause, allegedly due to a false complaint motivated by favoritism towards her ex-husband, a retired NYPD sergeant. She was handcuffed excessively tightly for hours, causing nerve damage and wrist injuries, and was interrogated without counsel. Despite medical treatment and surgeries, her injuries persisted, and the charges against her were dismissed on September 30, 2015. Escobar is seeking damages for false arrest, excessive force, and other violations of her rights.
