Description: On July 7, 2017, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Ronald Baldwin was stopped by NYPD Detectives David Demelia, Irie Humphrey, Joseph Marquez, and other unnamed officers near 1008 Summit Avenue in the Bronx. Without probable cause or legal justification, the officers allegedly stopped, searched, and physically assaulted Mr. Baldwin, including a strip search. He was handcuffed, detained, and falsely charged with crimes. Mr. Baldwin was held in custody for over 24 hours and made multiple court appearances before the charges were dismissed. The complaint alleges that this encounter was motivated by racial profiling. Mr. Baldwin sustained physical and emotional injuries from the encounter.
