Complaint
Description: On March 12, 2017, Plaintiff Mr. Galarza had a mental health crisis (diagnosed with schizophrenia) and struck his wife, who called the police to have them get him to a hospital. The NYPD arrived and escalated a tense situation, forced a physical confrontation and used excessive force on Mr. Galarza, permanently blinding him in the right eye by shooting a taser (NYPD officers Priolo and veloz). Then NYPD officers beat Mr. Galarza with closed fists causing him to lose consciousness.

Description: On September 4, 2017, Plaintiff was in his apartment at 2798 Randall Avenue, Bronx, NY. During the evening, Plaintiff's roommates, were involved in a physical altercation. Plaintiff was not involved in the fight. When police arrived, Officers entered Plaintiff's apartment without a warrant. SZOT stated that Plaintiff was not going to record them. Szot ordered AVALIES to arrest Plaintiff after he attempted to record the police search within his apartment.
