Description: On or about September 10, 2010 Plaintiffs were lawfully on the sidewalk waiting to be picked up by a relative to attend a traditional celebration to mark the end of Ramadan. PO Federico Rivera, Sgt. Mario Morales, and POs John Does 1-10 unlawfully stopped them and make derogatory remarks about Muslims and intimidating statements about September 11th. POs proceeded to search and arrest Plaintiffs in order to force them to spend the holiday and September 11th in jail. Plaintiffs were handcuffed and taken to the 44th Precinct, where they were unlawfully confined to a cell for 43 hours and suffered continual intimidation, threats, and disrespect by POs.
