Description: On August 16, 2016 Plaintiffs Lopez and Perez, who are brothers, were returning to a building. Plaintiff Lopez began to leave the building soon after entering to play basketball. Plaintiff Lopez saw multiple individuals in street clothes, later determined to be Det Paul Rivera, Lt. Fabian Sanchez, and POs Louis DeFranco and Jose G. Taveras, heading toward the entrance. Plaintiff Lopez held open the door for them with his back turned. Description: On or about January 17, 2013 at 7:15pm, Plaintiff was lawfully present on the sidewalk when Defendant POs Garcia, Cruz, Gibson, Taveras, and Gillis approach Plaintiff and physically detained her and forcibly performed a warrantless search. Defendant POs had no probably cause and Plaintiff did not consent to the search. Defendant POs accused Plaintiff of being involved in a drug transaction and kept Plaintiff in custody for several hours, during which Plaintiff was subjected to a strip search. Plaintiff was then released without receiving any summons, desk appearance ticket, or notice of any violation of law.
