Description: On May 15, 2019, Plaintiff was waiting inside a building for his regularly scheduled parole meeting. While he was waiting he was approached towards officers without cause. The officers then informed Plaintiff that he was under arrest and aggressively handcuffed Plaintiff with tight handcuffs. Plaintiff was then transported to the precinct where he was falsely accused of sale and possession of crack/cocaine. As a result of these false allegations, Plaintiff was wrongfully detained for eleven months before his release on April 21, 2020, when all charges against him were dismissed.

Description: On September 3, 2011, the two Plaintiffs were pulled over by POs Charles Awani and Richard Valdez, without any lawful reason, and were roughly pulled out of the car driven and owned by one of the Plaintiffs. PO Awani asked one of the Plaintiffs if he had smoked marijuana. When the Plaintiff said “no”, PO Awani stated, inter alia, that he knew that Plaintiff was lying and that he would punch him in the face if he kept lying to him. Plaintiff had not lied.
