Complaint
Description: On or about May 13, 2016, Donaya McMillan was unlawfully arrested by Police Officer Charles Cato and other officers of the New York City Police Department at the 113th Precinct in Queens. Despite lacking probable cause, the officers falsely accused McMillan of filing a false police report related to an attack she suffered on March 5, 2016. During this arrest, McMillan was handcuffed, imprisoned, and subjected to an unlawful search. Following the arrest, McMillan faced a prolonged criminal prosecution, requiring her to appear in court approximately 17 times until all charges were dismissed and sealed on December 14, 2017.
