$125,000 Settlement
Complaint
Description: On October 7 2022, Sergeant Stephen Ennis, Detective Jessica Rispoli, and John and Jane Does 1-10 unlawfully arrested the Plaintiff without probable cause or legal justification while he was walking outside a courthouse. They demanded he put his hands behind his back and cuffed him with excessively tight handcuffs before transporting him to the 44th Precinct where he was arraigned and falsely charged with crimes he did not commit. Due to the malicious prosecution initiated by the NYPD, the Plaintiff could not afford bail and was sent to Rikers Island and was released 66 days later on December 13 2022. All charges were dismissed on January 4, 2023.
