Description: On May 30, 2017, Wando Munoz, a 17-year-veteran parole officer with the NY State Department of Corrections was called to pick up her 16-year-old autistic son at his afterschool program for special needs after she was called and informed, he couldn’t be transported home that day on the bus. When she arrived at the program, Munoz saw her son seated in the chair in handcuffs, surrounded by 20 NY Police Officers. Her son was calm and handcuffed was forcibly removed from the chair to an ambulance by NYPD officers. Munoz objected, stating that there was no indication her son would harm himself or others.
