Description: On June 4, 2020, plaintiffs attended the FTP protest that began at "the Hub" at 149th and 3rd avenue in the Bronx. NYPD officers "kettled" the protestors as the marched through the streets until they were in a location from which there was no exit. The protestors asked to leave but were not permitted to do so. Officers began striking protestors with batons and shields, threw bicycles into the crowd, and spray pepper spray indiscriminately under the supervisions of Officer Monahan. Officers began arresting the protestors using handcuffs that were too tight, at time lifting the protestors off the ground using the handcuffs. The protestors then spent between 6 and 20 hours in police custody

Description: On June 4, 2020, plaintiff participated in the "FTP4" protest in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the Bronx. This protest started before an 8 PM curfew that had been implemented by the NYC Mayor. At or around 7:45, before the curfew became effective, the NYPD "kettled" the protesters by forming blockades around them on all sides and thereby preventing them from leaving. At this time, Defendants Sehl, Nin, and two other officers approached and attacked plaintiff, shoving her face into a barrier, grabbing her by the hair, and punching her in the stomach. Description: On June 4, 2020 in connection with a larger protest about the killing of George Floyd, Plaintiffs Alyssa Sukana was part of a group of protestors who was trapped in an NYPD "kettle" formation. Eventually, an NYPD officer pushed her into a car and another officer handcuffed her with plastic zip ties and held in total for 6 hours before being released. Plaintiff Andrea Canedo similarly was pushed against a car and then a fence by an NYPD officer who then ziptied her hands extremely tightly. NYPD officer then removed plaintiff's backpack and forced it around her neck for 4-5 hours. Neither plaintiff was charged.

Description: Plaintiff was driving when he began to have difficulty breathing and pulled off the road. Defendant Officers approached and Plaintiff asked them to call for medical aid but instead the defendant officers ordered plaintiff out of his vehicle and subjected him to a series of sobriety tests and unlawfully searched plaintiff’s vehicle. Officers tightly handcuffed Plaintiff, arrested him, and brought him to the 60th Precinct where he was given a summons for a fishing knife he had in his car. The summons was ACD'd.
