Lawsuits

Smith, Devalle vs City of Ny, et al.
Case # 505515/2024, Supreme Court - Kings, April 16, 2024
Complaint
Description: On May 26, 2022, Plaintiff parked his car when he was immediately assaulted by two NYPD officers who grabbed him and cuffed his wrists behind his back with overly tight handcuffs. Plaintiff was then taken to the precinct where he was accused in an interrogation by Detective Edwin Santiago of having taken part in a shooting in Brooklyn. Plaintiff was able to provide an alibi and evidence that he was in a different city on the day of the shooting, but Detective Santiago ignored this evidence, and provided incomplete and misleading information to the DA's office. This resulted in Plaintiff spending 4 days in jail illegally, and then having all charges against him dismissed by the DA.
