Complaint
Description: On September 18, 2013, Maliki Cottrell was subjected to an unlawful stop and frisk by NYPD officers at the 145th Street Bridge in New York County. The officers, including Deputy Inspector Michael A. Davidson and several unidentified officers, allegedly used excessive force, handcuffed Cottrell without probable cause, and falsely arrested him. Cottrell was detained at the 32nd Precinct for approximately twelve hours before being released. The lawsuit alleges false arrest, false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. ยง 1983, seeking damages for the deprivation of his liberty, humiliation, and mental and physical distress.
