Description: On November 2, 2014, plaintiff Emelda Fitzroy was at her home in Richmond County when defendant Officers John Falzarno (Shield #8668), Thomas Smith, Michael Simone, Joseph Curto, and other unnamed Officers forcibly grabbed and falsely arrested her. In the process, despite Fitzroy being pregnant, the defendants struck her in the stomach, threw her into the ground, and stepped on her. As a result of this attack, Fitzroy suffered a miscarriage and severe physical and psychological distress. Fitzroy spent three months incarcerated at Rikers Island, until all charges were dropped.
