Description: On October 25, 2019, Kwesi Ashun was involved in a fatal incident at the Goldmine Nail Salon in Brooklyn, New York. The lawsuit, brought by Ama Ashun-Bartley as the proposed administratrix of Kwesi Ashun's estate, alleges that officers from the New York City Police Department (NYPD), including Police Officers Joseph Leon and Lesley Lafontant, as well as other unnamed officers, used excessive and unjustified force against Kwesi Ashun. The complaint states that Officer Leon assaulted Ashun with a Taser, and Officer Lafontant fired six gunshots, resulting in Ashun's death.
