Complaint
Description: On May 22, 2014, plaintiffs were driving on 1st Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East Side. As they passed 77th Street heading uptown, they were stopped by defendant NYPD Officers Romance, Collado, and other John Doe officers. Defendants, acting without reasonable suspicion, ordered plaintiffs out of the vehicle and searched plaintiffs on site. They did not identify any contraband, but nevertheless took plaintiffs into custody at the 19th NYPD Precinct. At the precinct, defendants strip searched plaintiffs, again finding no contraband or evidence of illegal activity. Plaintiffs were later released without any criminal charges.
