Description: On January 27, 2018, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Christopher Santiago was a lawful passenger in a motor vehicle in the vicinity of 80th Street and 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, when NYPD officers, including Officers Rony Sharoubim, Michael Randazzo, Jason Frias, Stevenson Laporte, and Lieutenant Joseph Wernersbach, unlawfully stopped the vehicle. Santiago was forcibly removed from the vehicle, handcuffed, and falsely arrested without probable cause. The officers conducted an unlawful search of both the vehicle and Santiago, finding no illegal items. He was detained for over 20 hours before the District Attorney's Office declined to prosecute. Description: On March 3, 2013, Plaintiff Anita Oreckinto was in her Brooklyn home when police officers, including Jeffrey Lau, Naabil Lafaar, Michael Randazzo, Richard Scheblein, Christopher Sherrett, and Aluthea Caviness, went into her bedroom after she had her wisdom teeth removed, and then choked her, beat her causing her to urinate on herself, tightly handcuffed her, and made false statements to have her brought to the hospital before she was released three days later with no charges. Plaintiff alleges excessive force, false arrest, abuse of process, IIED, NIED, and failure to intervene.
