Description: The plaintiff walked into the park and was immediately asked to leave by the defendant officers. The plaintiff complied, but when he exited the park he was tackled by the defendant officers, beat, searched, and handcuffed. When the plaintiff asked why he was under arrest, the defendant officers refused to respond. The plaintiff was taken to the 84th Precinct where he was held for 24 hours before the case was dismissed and he was released.

Complaint
Description: On December 9, 2013, Plaintiff Kavon Durdin was near his school, Science Skills Center High School in Brooklyn, New York, when police officers, including Officer Nelson, Officer Patrick, and Officer Bellardio, approached him in a van. The officers followed him back to his school and, without provocation, threw him to the ground, sprayed him with mace or pepper spray, and cursed at him. Durdin was arrested, taken into custody, and detained at the 84th Precinct before being transported to Central Booking. The officers charged him with unspecified offenses, which were later adjourned in contemplation of dismissal.
