Description: On November 20, 2013, LaToya Orr was wrongfully arrested by officers without cause, charged with petit larceny and criminal trespass in the third degree, despite not having committed any offense. The arrest occurred after an incident at a bar, where after a misunderstanding regarding their orders, Orr and her friends were asked to leave. Immediately upon exiting, they were forcibly detained by the officers, subjected to an illegal search, and taken to the NYPD-6th Precinct. Orr experienced physical and verbal abuse, was inappropriately searched, and sustained injuries due to excessive force. Description: On November 13, 2011, Plaintiffs who were musicians at a local club were leaving the club when they were stopped for no apparent reason by defendant police officers Nuzio and Nuziato. The officers asked plaintiffs, who were both African American, what they were doing in the neighborhood so late. When they replied, defendant officers told plaintiffs to leave the neighborhood and not come back.
