Despite having no legal justification, NYPD Officer Jarren Smalls and Officers John Doe and John Roe stopped, searched, grabbed, assaulted, battered, and detained Plaintiffs in an aggressive and excessive manner. Plaintiffs were arraigned and maliciously prosecuted with crimes. After being required to make numerous court appearances, all charges against Plaintiffs were terminated in their favor.

Description: On August 20, 2021, police officer Jarren Smalls and others stopped Plaintiff at the intersection of Briggs Avenue and 194th Street without probable cause or reasonable suspicion. The officers, including Smalls, then grabbed Plaintiff violently and searched Plaintiff. Despite not finding any contraband on Plaintiff, the officers falsely accused Plaintiff of committing criminal offenses, arrested Plaintiff, and applied excessively tight handcuffs to Plaintiff's wrist. Plaintiff was transported to the 52nd Precinct where he was detained for approximately 16 hours before being transported to Central Booking.
