Description: On June 24, 2023, Plaintiff was at an L train subway station in Canarsie, Brooklyn, when NYPD Officer Jimmy Jeanmary allegedly began harassing him under the mistaken belief that Butler had a marijuana cigarette in his hand. Officer Jeanmary, joined by Officer Denisha Pierre, assaulted Plaintiff, striking him multiple times and slamming his head into the ground, causing him to lose consciousness. Butler was arrested and taken to a precinct instead of receiving immediate medical attention. He was booked under a false name, and his requests for medical care were ignored until he began experiencing seizures several hours later.
