Description: On May 8, 2013 Plaintiff Candace Jackson and a passenger were pulled over while driving by NYPD officers Christopher Alvarado and Jay Rivera. PO Alvarado ordered her to step out of the car, alleging that she was stopped when her tail light was broken. Plaintiff told the officers her tail light was not broken, to which they told her to shut up. The officers began searching Plaintiff's car without consent, and three more officers arrived (John Does 1-3). THe officers searched Plaintiff's car, handcuffed her and her passenger. Officer Alvarado then alleged he found marijuana. Plaintiff was taken to the precinct, photographed, and fingerprinted, and given a DAT. The DA's office later declined to prosecute.
