Case # 14CV01631, U.S. District Court - Southern District NY, March 18, 2014, ended September 30, 2014
$17,500 Settlement
Complaint
Description: On May 4, 2013, Plaintiff was in a large group. NYPD Police Officers including John Gonis, Petr Janak and others approached. Without probable cause, they stopped Plaintiff, demanding to know "where the gun is". They then unlawfully searched him. Despite not finding anything, they falsely arrested him on the grounds of drug possession. At the precinct, police officers said "all this for crack?" and showed him a black bag he had never seen before. There was no fingerprint or DNA evidence tying him to the bag. Defendant police officers then made false reports about witnessing plaintiff possessing narcotics.
