Description: On March 13, 2013, at approximately 10:00 a.m., several “plain clothed” NYPD officers entered the business premises of Church Avenue Pawn Shop in Brooklyn. The supervisor of those officers, Detective Sandra Richards, was looking to seize certain jewelry legally held as collateral. Plaintiff was a duly employed manager of Church Pawn. Detective Richard, claiming to be a police officer, demanded Plaintiff to turn over such jewelry. Plaintiff requested to see identification, to which the NYPD officers refused. Plaintiff inquired whether the NYPD officers had a warrant, to which Detective Richard replied that they neither had a warrant nor needed one.
