Description: On October 9, 2023, Plaintiff, an African American male with mental and intellectual disabilities, was walking home after leaving a party in Lafayette Gardens, Brooklyn, when he was approached by five men wearing religious attire resembling that of Hasidic Jews. These men assaulted and battered him violently. Defendant NYPD Officers, including Police Officer Ortega and Captain Goodchild, were aware of the situation but failed to intervene. The Defendants also tried to dissuade Plaintiff from pressing charges against the 5 men because they are jewish and filing complaint against NYPD.
