Complaint
Description: On April 8, 2022, plaintiff swiped his Metrocard, passed through the Canal Street Station, and proceeded to wait for an uptown 6 train. While waiting, plaintiff was confronted by defendant-Officer Mercedes Rodriguez. Plaintiff refused to provide Officer Rodriguez with his Metrocard. Defendant LSA Ryan Murphy came toward plaintiff and pushed him against a pillar. Defendant LSA Murphy placed plaintiff under arrest. Defendant-officers, including officers Rodriguez and Zhang, proceeded to search plaintiff. Plaintiff was brought to a police station within the station, wherein officer-defendants search the plaintiff's person, confiscated his Metrocard and his mother's Metrocard, and placed him in a jail cell.
