Description: On March 29, 2017, police officers stopped plaintiff Adolph Lewis with guns drawn and told them they had a warrant to search his apartment. They then arrested him. Plaintiffs Latrell Lewis, Meleshia Lewis, and Melissa Lewis were arrested in the apartment by officers with guns drawn, and officers pointed a gun at Meleshia's toddler. Plaintiffs were then detained at the 67th precinct for hours and falsely charged with unlawful possession of ammunition or marijuana, even though neither had been recovered in the apartment search. Description: On August 3, 2012, Plaintiff was driving back home from a medical appointment. Without cause or justification, NYPD Officers including Deputy Inspector Joseph Gulotta, Lieutenant John Hopkins, Lieutenant Martha Rizzo, Police Officer Joel Rosenthal, and other Police Officers approached and demanded license and registration. As Plaintiff was complying, and for no reason, they pulled him out of the car, twisted his arm, and placed him in exceedingly tight handcuffs. They took him to the Precinct. Later, they acknowledged they had wrongfully arrested him, and tried to downplay it as a misunderstanding.
