Description: In 2006, a black man in a hoody entered the Plaintiff 1's apartment lobby and brandished a firearm at Plaintiff 1. Plaintiff 1 ran in fear of his life and the man began chasing Plaintiff, never identifying himself as a police officer. As Plaintiff was running, someone identified themselves as police and Plaintiff 1 laid down on the floor, and an officer hit Plaintiff in the back of his head with a firearm. No contraband was found in a strip search but Plaintiff 1 was placed under arrest anyway without probable cause. Description: Plaintiff Shawn Davis is suing the City of New York and former NYPD Detective Michael Foder, alleging wrongful conviction and subsequent harm. Davis was arrested in 2012 for drug possession and convicted in 2014, serving time until 2016 and remaining under parole until 2017. Davis maintained his innocence throughout. In 2022, an investigation revealed misconduct by a group of NYPD officers, including Foder, leading to the exoneration of 378 people, including Davis, whose conviction was vacated in November 2022.

Description: On February 9, 2016, Mr. Sasha Honore was arrested for conspiracy to commit armed robbery and placed into federal custody in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Honore's arrest was based on a false identification due to the false testimony of Officer Michael Fodder. Officer Fodder pleaded guilty to perjuring himself while giving testimony in Mr. Honore's case. Once the U.S. Attorney's office discovered that Officer Fodder lied, they made a motion to dismiss the charges against Mr. Honore. Around March 14, 2017, Mr. Honore was released from custody after spending about 13 months in federal jail in Brooklyn.
