Complaint
Description: On August 5, 2010, Damian Champell was murdered, and an eyewitness, "Diamond," Mr. Newson as one of the perpetrators. Mr. Newson was arrested for the murder and possession of a weapon, however he was not present when the murder occurred and he did not have a weapon. Mr. Newson was still indicted and incarcerated for the murder of Mr. Champell. Between 2010 and April 14, 2014, exculpatory evidence was discovered but was not provided to Mr. Newson's defense counsel. This evidence was not presented until Mr. Newson's second trial in the fall of 2015. Mr. Newson was then acquitted of all charges.
