Complaint
Description: On March 4, 2023, Plaintiff Jason Cajigas was lawfully in his vehicle on the street in Manhattan. He was approached by Defendant Officers Jeffrey Smith, Matthew Kelleher, Ryan Young, and Oswaldo Espinoza who proceeded to remove him from his vehicle and assault him physically, resulting in a fractured jaw and orbital fracture. Plaintiff Cajigas was then placed in handcuffs and taken to a precinct for processing. After that, Plaintiff was taken to Central Booking for processing and then, finally, the hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

Description: An unmarked police car pulled over a car in which Plaintiff was a passenger but the driver sped away and all the passengers fled the car and hid, including Plaintiff. Eventually Plaintiff emerged with his hands up and officers assaulted him, took him to the 67th Precinct, and then the hospital. Plaintiff was charged with resisting arrest, which was later dismissed.
