Description: On or about November 3, 2017, Kevin Melendez was allegedly falsely arrested, assaulted, and battered by several New York City police officers, including Officer John Espenberg, Officer Francisco Ferreira, and Sergeant Maria Veliz, along with other unidentified officers. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 a.m. in front of 39 East 170th Street, Bronx, New York. Prior to his encounter with the officers, Melendez had been attacked and slashed in the face by an unknown assailant, leaving him bleeding and in need of medical assistance. Instead of helping him, the officers allegedly used excessive force, beating him with nightsticks, kicking, stomping, and tasing him while he was already handcuffed and bleed...
