Description: Charles Douglas: On May 31, 2020, at around 11:30 PM, Plaintiff Douglas and his three friends arrived in Union Square, where a group protesting police brutality in the wake of George Floyd’s death had just departed. Plaintiff and his friends stood on the street to observe when Defendant Officer John Doe #1 approached them and told them to "Go away". Plaintiff and his friends complied. Description: On April 3, 2014 at approximately 11:30 pm, the plaintiff received a call from her mother asking the plaintiff to go to the mother's Bronx apartment due to the plaintiff's brother's heavy intoxication and behavior. The plaintiff arrived at the apartment soon thereafter and, upon entering the residence, saw NYPD Officer Edwin Nieves, along with other NYPD officers, speaking with the plaintiff's distraught mother. The plaintiff interjected, asking what had happened. One of the defendants, Officer Nieves, told the plaintiff to "shut up" and to go into an adjoining room.
