Description: On September 25, 2015 Det. Lauren M. Shepherd falsely accused Plaintiff of burglary and intentionally handcuffed and arrested Plaintiff without legal justification. Plaintiff was detained for approximately 7 days and was subject to a malicious prosecution until on or about March 31, 2017, when all charges against Plaintiff were dismissed. Plaintiff suffered actual physical injuries, emotional distress, and humiliation as a result of this incident.

Description: On July 4, 2012, at about 10:00 p.m., Plaintiff was in the vicinity of Mermaid Avenue and West 19th St. in Brooklyn, New York. Plaintiff observed his friend, Christopher Smith, being arrested by several NYPD Officers. As Plaintiff's friend was being put into the police van, Plaintiff walked in front of the van to cross the street. An officer approached and shoved Plaintiff with both hands, When the Plaintiff asked why he was shoved, the officer twisted Plaintiff's arm roughly behind him and arrested him.
