Description: On February 28, 2021, Plaintiff was lawfully present on Bryant Avenue in the Bronx when they were approached by Defendant Officers Yulenny Veras and John and Jane Doe officers. Plaintiff was grabbed, beaten, and struck in the head, and had their arm twisted and pulled behind their back. Plaintiff was also kicked in the ribs, abdomen, and mid-section, and was struck in the neck with a knee and forcefully placed in handcuffs. Defendant officers also used a taser on Plaintiff. The assault continued while Plaintiff was placed in an ambulance and transported to St. Barnabas Hospital for treatment. Description: On August 1, 2019, Plaintiff Dominique Thomas called 911 to request assistance for an incident of domestic violence of which she was the victim. Several NYPD units, including P.O.s Veras, Padilla, Duran, Mota, Nunez, arrived at the scene. Rather than respond to Ms. Thomas' concern - the intoxicated man in here home who had battered her - the P.O.s wrongfully detained and arrested Ms. Thomas without probable cause while her attacker remained inside her home with her three children.
