Complaint
Description: On or about October 20, 2022, police officers MD S Awal and other unidentified police officers arrested plaintiff Hassan Bolden who was assigned to transport a mentally ill person to and from his public assistance appointment. Plaintiff and his client were heading towards the MTA Subway Platform when police officers approached him. They asked him to place his hands behind his back and put metal handcuffs on his wrists. Defendant stated that he w as arrested for theft of services and trespassing. All charges against the plaintiff were dismissed. As a result of the detention, the plaintiff suffered emotional trauma and distress.
