Description: On November 11, 2015, around 5:00pm, Mr. Nelson Centeno was walking to work. Mr. Centeno worked at Raul's Barbershop in the East Village. When Mr. Centeno got to 8th Street and Avenue C, he began to have a seizure. While Mr. Centeno was having a seizure, police officers arrived and ordered him to put his hands in the air. They then proceeded to violently take him to the ground. Mr. Centeno was repeatedly assaulted by the officers while he was on the ground. He sustained serious injuries to his head, face, wrists, and knees. Mr. Centeno was then taken to Beth Israel Medical Center where he remained for seven days. Mr. Centeno was never formally charged.
