Summary

On July 6, 2019, at approximately 11:10 p.m., at Coffey Park in Brooklyn, [redacted] and [redacted] were cleaning up the remains of a barbeque when PO Lauren Maragni, Sgt. Jesse Ankele, and PO Lawrence Pitta, all of the 76th Precinct, drove into the park and approached them. A second police vehicle pulled into the park and PO Class and PO Jovin, who had briefly interacted with [redacted] and his friends earlier, also approached.
PO Maragni asked [redacted] for ID because she allegedly saw him drinking beer (Allegation A – Abuse of Authority: Stop, [redacted] and [redacted] also alleged that PO Maragni asked [redacted] for ID (Allegations B, C, D – Abuse of Authority: Question, [redacted] PO Maragni asked [redacted] for his ID several times, and allegedly threatened to bring him to the stationhouse if he did not provide it (Allegation E – Abuse of Authority: Threat of arrest, [redacted] PO Pitta also told [redacted] he would be taken to the stationhouse if he did not provide ID (Allegation F – Abuse of Authority: Threat of arrest, [redacted] [redacted] initially refused, but eventually gave PO Maragni his ID along with a PBA card that belonged to his cousin.
